A Little Backstory
In 2017 I challenged myself to make one short film a week as a way to tell more stories and get creative. It was also an opportunity for me to act, write, and direct without waiting for permission. The films started out as #1minfilms on IG, but then they got longer, bigger as I roped in more of my friends to help out. From 2017-2019, I made over 60 short films where I wrote/directed/starred/produced/edited/sound mixed/colored everything.
I stopped in 2019 because in lieu of cranking out one a week, I wanted to do higher quality films with better cameras, costumes, props — but in order to do that I needed more funds. Anyhow, I’m back to making these again, maybe not once a week, but definitely once every month or two. I just shot one in Lisbon, which turned out super cool and am looking for help to shoot some more now that I’ve relocated to Portugal. Thank you!

Most of these I shot with my phone, some using whatever cool apps I stumbled upon. As I made more of them though, friends with better cameras came on board, but I always promised myself that I could still make good art with just a phone in hand.
Many were inspired by stories that have been simmering in my head for years, some by current events, some by my mood and personal experiences. I played around with genre, color, frame rate, special effects, time periods — but at the end of the day, story was always king. Enjoy!
